Basic Description:

Sorafenib "Sorafenib (a bi-aryl urea) is a small molecular inhibitor of several Tyrosine protein kinases (VEGFR and PDGFR) and Raf. (Protein kinases are overactive in many of the molecular pathways that cause cells to become cancerous. These pathways include Raf kinase, PDGF (platelet-derived growth factor), VEGF receptor 2 and 3 kinases and c Kit the receptor for Stem cell factor.)" - Wikipedia

Special Precautions:

• Tell your doctor and pharmacist if you are allergic to sorafenib, dany other medications, or any of the ingredients in sorafenib tablets. Ask your pharmacist for a list of the ingredients.
• Tell your doctor and pharmacist what prescription and nonprescription medications, vitamins, and nutritional supplements you are taking or plan to take.
• Tell your doctor what herbal products you are taking, especially St. John's wort.
• Tell your doctor if you have or have ever had high blood pressure, bleeding problems, chest pain, a heart attack, kidney disease other than kidney cancer, or heart or liver disease.
• You should know that sorafenib may decrease fertility in men and women. However, you should not assume that you or your partner cannot become pregnant. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, you should tell your doctor before you begin taking this drug.
• If you are having surgery, including dental surgery, tell the doctor or dentist that you are taking sorafenib.

Side Effects - Minor:

• Tiredness
• Weakness
• Rash
• Skin Redness
• Hair Loss
• Itching
• Dry Or Peeling Skin
• Loss Of Appetite
• Constipation
• Diarrhea
• Dry Mouth
• Mouth Sore
• Weight Loss
• Joint Pain
• Numbness, Pain Or Tingling In Hands Or Feet
• Headache

Side Effects - Serious. Contact doctor if you experience any of the following:

Major side effects are uncommon. Since people with NF2 are taking these medications at a low dose, only minimal side effects are common. However, long term use is primarily where these major side effects take place. Monthly Blood and Urine Tests can usually point to an issue before it's a real problem. Talk to your doctor.

• Unusual Bruising Or Bleeding
• Black And/Or Tarry Stools
• Red Blood In Stools
• Bloody Vomit
• Vomiting Material That Looks Like Coffee Grounds
• Fever
• Severe Stomach Pain
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Chest Pain
• Shortness Of Breath
• Fainting
• Sweating A Lot
• Sudden Severe Headache
• Confusion
• Changes In Vision
• Seizures
• Redness, Pain, Swelling Or Blisters On The Palms Of The Hands Or Soles Of The Feet
